From OpenERP to Odoo

Why, read the story here

According to Google, OpenERP is still searched 720 times every month, which is not surprising when you consider that Odoo only changed its company name from OpenERP to Odoo in 2014.

This is because Odoo is now more than just an ERP system (as we know it as a general concept). ERP stands for Enterprise Resource planning and is mainly focused on internal business processes. Odoo has not only developed a platform for internal business processes, but also for external business processes such as marketing, (online) sales and retail activities and these processes are all seamlessly connected.

Customer-focused

In terms of vision and its software solution, Odoo is far ahead of other ERP or software suppliers. Odoo has achieved this by designing the Odoo platform in such a way that the customer is central, so that internal and external business processes can all be managed from one system.

Total solution

Odoo no longer sees its software application as an ERP system, but more as a total solution for all your business processes, which is why the word “ERP” has been omitted from the name Odoo. The additional advantage of this total solution is that there is no need to invest much in different business applications and software packages, which then have to be linked together.

Odoo has 2 versions, the Enterprise version and the Community. Odoo Community (Odoo CE) is completely free and has more limited functionality and is as well less user-friendly than Odoo Enterprise. For Odoo Enterprise (Odoo EE) you take out a license with Odoo S.A. and you get about 20% more functionality, a bug fix guarantee and a free migration service to future versions.
